In a recent interview for the Apple TV documentary "The Dynasty," Kraft confirmed a story that has circulated in the media for years: Russian President Vladimir Putin stole his Super Bowl XXXIX ring at a meeting several businessmen had with the president in 2005.

That year, Kraft, television mogul Rupert Murdoch, Sandy Weill, then chairman of Citigroup, and other businessmen visited St. Petersburg, in an attempt to stimulate trade relations between the United States and Russia.
According to Kraft, during the meeting, he took out the ring to show it to Putin, but instead of just looking at it, "He put it on, and then he looked at me, and he said, 'I could kill someone with this ring.'" Showing some sense of humor, Kraft replied: "Mr. President, you could kill someone without it."
